DeWitt is a suburb of Lansing, MI and may, or may not, be considered part of the Greater Lansing Area. Funny how that works. It used to be a small town and now it remains a small town although bigger than it was before. There are bars, there are restaurants and there is a famous pie place. There is a bar in a church. Well, it's not a church anymore. DeWitt features not one, not two, but three shopping districts and an abandoned strip mall that isn't really abandoned.

In 2005 Dewitt was considered the 75th best place to live in the United States. It was named after DeWitt Clinton who was Governor of New York in the 1820s. It was settled in 1833 by David Scott and became formally known as DeWitt Township in 1836. Since that time DeWitt Township has been divided into four different townships. This could be likened to a civil war of sorts but that wouldn't be accurate.
